LASIK

LASIK (laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis) eye surgery can bring clarity to your vision and eliminate your dependency on glasses and contacts. It is used for patients with conditions like nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. The surgery is performed using a laser or microkeratome to reshape the cornea in order to improve visual acuity. For most people, this procedure provides a long-lasting alternative to eyeglasses or contact lenses.

It’s a corrective procedure used to reshape refractive errors in the cornea that prevent the eye from focusing properly. Your cornea’s role is similar to a lens on a camera. When light enters the cornea, it bends and focuses the light (a process called refraction). During the procedure, the cornea is reshaped so that it will focus light correctly.
